REPUBLIC ACT NO. 1824 - AN
ACT APPROPRIATING ONE HUNDRED AND TWENTY THOUSAND PESOS TO DEFRAY THE
EXPENSES OF A STATE FUNERAL FOR RAMON MAGSAYSAY AND FOR THE ERECTION OF
A TEMPORARY MAUSOLEUM TO CONTAIN HIS REMAINS AND TO DEFRAY THE FUNERAL
AND OTHER EXPENSES OF ALL THE OTHER PERSONS IN HIS PARTY |
WHEREAS, Ramon Magsaysay, President
of the Philippines, who died on the seventeenth day of March, nineteen
hundred and fifty-seven dedicated his life and labors to the service of
his country. WHEREAS, it is fitting and proper that his remains be laid to rest in a manner that will perpetuate his memory and express our people's love and respect for him: Now, therefore, Section 1. The sum of one hundred and twenty thousand pesos, or so much thereof as may be necessary, is hereby appropriated out of any funds in the National Treasury not otherwise appropriated, to defray the expenses of a state funeral for Ramon Magsaysay, the late President of the Philippines, and for the erection of a temporary mausoleum to contain the remains of the great leader and, also, to defray the funeral and other expenses of all the other deceased persons in his party.
Sec. 2. This Act shall take effect upon its
