REPUBLIC ACT NO. 8221 - AN ACT TO
DEVELOP THE CAPAS NATIONAL SHRINE, APPROPRIATING FUNDS THEREFOR, AND
FOR OTHER PURPOSES |
Section
1. The Capas National Shrine, more particularly
described as follows, is placed under the administration of the
Military Shrine Service, Philippine Veterans Affairs Office. CAPAS NATIONAL SHRINE A parcel of land, being a portion of Zone "B" of the Clark Air Base Military Reservation, situated at Barangay Aranguren, Capas, Tarlac, bounded on the east along lines 1-2 by Lot No. 1902 Cad No. 615-D(PSU-43293, Lot-3); on the south along lines 2-3 by portion of reservation (PSU-2724); on the north along lines 4-5-6-7-8-9-1 by the provincial road. Beginning at the point marked "1", being N. 82 deg. 55' W., 204.12 m. from BLLM No. 6, Cad. 615-D. Thence S. 03 deg. 49' E., 1,000.00 m. to point 2; S. 86 deg. 11' W., 529.81 m. to point 3; N. 03 deg. 49' W., 839.00 m. to point 4; N. 59 deg. 38' E., 229.23 m. to point 5; N. 64 deg. 19' E., 52.20 m. to point 6; N. 72 deg. 49' E., 59.25 m. to point 7; N. 77 deg. 14' E., 28.23 m. to point 8; N. 82 deg. 56' E., 82.18 m. to point 9; N. 77 deg. 38' E., 109.95 m. to the point of beginning, containing an area of five hundred thousand square meters (500,000 sq.m.), more or less. Sec. 2. The shrine shall be developed as a memorial, with a monument and auxiliary facilities dedicated to the memory of those who were incarcerated or died in the Capas Camp during the second World War: provided, that said memorial shall consist of an area where a tree should be planted in memory of the twenty-five thousand (25,000) Filipino and six thousand (6,000) American soldiers who died in the camp: provided, further, that the remaining areas in the shrine shall be converted into a mini-forest. Sec. 3. The amount necessary for the initial implementation of this Act shall be included in the annual General Appropriations Act of the year following its enactment into law and thereafter. Sec. 4. This Act shall take effect upon its approval. Approved: October 9, 1996 |
