ACT NO. 1535 - AN ACT TO ENCOURAGE
THE SHIPPING TRADE IN THE PHILIPPINE ISLANDS BY ABOLISHING THE
COLLECTION OF ALL TONNAGE DUES ON VESSELS COMING FROM FOREIGN PORTS OF
ENTRY IN THE PHILIPPINE ISLANDS

Whereas the
Government of the Philippine Islands is authorized by section eleven of
an Act of the Congress of the United States, approved February sixth,
nineteen hundred and five, to modify, suspend, or repeal the provisions
respecting tonnage dues set forth in sections fourteen and fifteen of
an Act entitled "An Act to revise and amend the tariff laws of the
Philippine Archipelago," enacted by the Philippine Commission on
September seventeenth, nineteen hundred and one, and confirmed by an
Act of Congress approved March eight, nineteen hundred and two, which
said section eleven has been continued in force by section twenty of an
Act of the Congress of the United States, approved March third,
nineteen hundred and five: Therefore, Section 1. The provisions respecting tonnage dues on the entry of a vessel from a port or place not in the Philippine Islands contained in sections fourteen and fifteen of Act Numbered Two hundred and thirty, entitled "An Act to revise and amend the tariff laws of the Philippine Archipelago," enacted by the Philippine Commission on September seventeenth, nineteen hundred and one, and confirmed by an Act of Congress approved March eighth, nineteen hundred and two, are hereby repealed. Sec. 2. The public good requiring the speedy enactment of this bill, the passage of the same is hereby expedited in accordance with section two of "An Act prescribing the order of procedure by the Commission in the enactment of laws," passed September twenty-sixth, nineteen hundred. Sec. 3. This Act shall take effect on September first, nineteen hundred and six. � |
